HOLY ROSARY CATHOLIC CHURCH

Holy Rosary in Medford, WI desired an interior church renovation to cap off a larger campus improvement project. Intended as a first phase with an additional components to come, the majority of the work focused on beautifying the sanctuary, apart from carpeted flooring replacement, new pews, upgraded audio and lighting. The sanctuary carpet was removed and replaced with marble tile, including a low decorative iron and brass rail around the perimeter edge. A custom suspended crucifix by ALBL Oberammergau reinforces the vertical axis with the skylight above the altar. Existing stone furnishings were ornamented with mosaics, including a custom inlet at the foot of the altar, and a new Marian-themed reredos provides a fitting backdrop to provide centrality of focus to the altar and verticality to the otherwise very horizontal interior. The existing stone walls were retained but ornamented with crosses symbolizing the twelve apostles. Future murals featuring the mysteries of the Rosary are planned for the central vault. The choir area was revised and narthex wall replaced to allow greater visibility from the narthex.
